President Abraham Lincoln's 200th Birthday Honored with Lincoln and Lee at Antietam DVD

Pittsburgh, PA - February 12, 2009 - Two hundred years after Abraham Lincoln's death, there still is no shortage of interest in his life or contributions to our nation. In fact, numerous organizations are now celebrating Lincoln's Bicentennial in a series of events across the country. For more information on events near you, check out the official site of the commission planning the 2009 bicentennial celebration of Lincoln's birth at www.lincolnbicentennial.gov/.

In February, Inecom Entertainment Company also honors our nation's 16th president with its DVD, Lincoln and Lee at Antietam - The Cost of Freedom, which documents the single bloodiest day in American history and vividly brings to life the story of America's fight for freedom in a battle that changed the course of the Civil War. Narrated by Ronald F. Maxwell, director of Gettysburg and Gods and Generals, the film is available at video stores, Internet retailers, educational and institutional distributors and large retail chains worldwide.

During the Civil War, President Lincoln needed a victory in order to issue the Emancipation Proclamation, which remains today one of the most socially important documents in American history, shaping black history, as well as our nation as a whole. When Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s strategy fell into the hands of the Union Army, the result was the Battle of Antietam in Sharpsburg, Maryland. In the fight for freedom, nearly twice as many Americans died on that single day than had fallen in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Mexican War and the Spanish-American War combined. In striking comparison, American losses on the bloodiest day of World War II, D-Day, were a quarter of those at Antietam.

Lincoln and Lee at Antietam - The Cost of Freedom tells the tale of the 14-hour epic Battle at Antietam and features commentaries from renowned historians such as:

James M. McPherson, Princeton University, Pulitzer Prize winning author of Battle Cry of Freedom and Crossroads of Freedom: Antietam;

Allen C. Guelzo, Gettysburg College, America’s only repeat winner of the Lincoln Prize; Nominated by President George W. Bush to the National Council on the Humanities;

Dennis E. Frye, National Park Service Historian at Harpers Ferry, author of Antietam Revealed and associate producer of Gods and Generals; and

Paul V. Chiles, National Park Service Historian at Antietam National Park.

Written, directed and produced by multiple-award winner Robert Child (Gettysburg: Three Days of Destiny, Gettysburg: The Boys in Blue and Gray and Silent Wings - The American Glider Pilots of WWII), Lincoln and Lee at Antietam - The Cost of Freedom vividly brings to life the story of America's fight for freedom.

They bravely served their country during some of the most brutal World War II battles but, in an instant, they were lost to their families forever. For more than 60 years, the whereabouts of these fallen heroes remained a mystery...until now. Last Flight Home follows Dr. Patrick Scannon and his team of volunteers as they search the waters and jungles of Palau to find out what really happened to American MIAs and their aircraft.

The battles of Palau (Operation Desecrate One, Operation Snapshot and the Battle of Peleliu - codenamed Operation Stalemate II) were fought between the U.S. and Japan during the War in the Pacific, but have been largely ignored by history, eclipsed by the more famous WWII battles of Iwo Jima, Kwajelein and Okinawa.

The film joins Scannon and his team who have found numerous aircraft such as Corsairs, Avengers, Hellcats and B-24s during their expeditions, and who tirelessly search for answers as a way of thanking the MIAs and their families for the sacrifices made decades ago.
